Gore Mountain Ski Trip

Awesome trip to Gore Mountain.  Weather was perfect and the West/Put Ski staff was great.  Can't wait for next year.  Here is a link to the album with our pictures from this weekend:

We stayed in a heated bunk house at Camp Read, with hot water, showers and a kitchen.  The scouts watched some really bad movies during their downtime after skiing and really enjoyed the trip.  We had one scout learning how to snowboard who took a lesson at Gore and had really good things to say about his instructor.

Even though the weather was cold we all managed to stay warm and ski hard all weekend.

Klondike Derby 2014

The Batmen Patrol competed in their second Klondike derby and did really well.  Improvement in both firebuilding and knot tying increased their scores over last year.  They were only 23 seconds off from scoring a perfect 10 on the firebuilding which is a massive improvement.  Most importantly they worked together as team through all the events and had a great time.  For the full picture gallery please go here:

We will see everyone at Monday's meeting.  Stay warm.

Cabin Camping

Apologize for the late post on our Cabin Camping adventure last weekend.  Even though the weather was abysmal we had a grand time and just unwound and relaxed as a group.  The Scouts had a great time exploring the frozen lake and the ice fishing shacks, they even found a frozen fish on the ice.  Thankfully none of them tried to bring that back home.  A link to the album with our pictures from the weekend is here:

We did manage to take care of one piece of business which was to decide on the summer mini venture for 2nd Class scouts.  After much discussion they decided on another canoe trip but one that did did not require too much exertion.  The outcome was an island hopping canoeing expedition on Lake Champlain.  Dates and details will need to be worked out and the leaders will work with Chris and William to put some of those details down on paper over the next couple of months.

Remember, Monday is a holiday so we have no meeting.  We are also getting together at my house at 4pm on Friday the 24th to finish our sled and the 25th is the Klondike Derby.  More details on the Derby will come in an email.
